Student Council
A Student Council is a representative structure through which students in a post-primary school can become involved in the affairs of the school, working in partnership with school management and staff and parents for the benefit of the school and its students.
In Coláiste Clavin, the main role of our Student Council is “to promote the interests of the college and the involvement of students in the affairs of the college, in co-operation with the board, parents and teachers”.
Objectives:
- To be the voice of the student body and to listen to issues and problems concerning them.
- To report on issues and council issues at bi-weekly meetings.
- To participate in the drafting and development of school policies.
- To liaise with the student council facilitator, the principal and deputy principals and other members of staff.
- To create a pleasant environment for students that enhances the wellbeing of the student body.
- To work with the local and national community
- To represent the school and students at youth events such as Meath Comhairle na nÓg
- To oversee initiatives than benefit the school community (e.g. organising colours days)
- To be champions of the high standard of quality in the school building and school facilities for students.
