Toy Collection for Ashbourne Community School: December 2019
The Parent’s Association joined together with Transition years to organise a Toy Collection for children who were newly arrived to Ireland in Ashbourne Community School.
Many of these children have had traumatic experiences, and are living in temporary accommodation. Many have no toys, and had little hope of receiving any over the Christmas season. Together the students and parents collected the toys, wrapped and delivered them directly to the children in Ashbourne the week leading up to the Christmas Holidays. Parents and families of Coláiste Clavin showed their genorisity in supporting this worthy cause. Transition year students said they will forever remember the day and the joy on the faces of the children as they opened the wrapped toys.

Enterprise Workshop 2019
Transition Year student’s joined over two hundred students from various schools in Trim Castle Hotel for an Enterprise workshop on September 9th. It was a very interesting and fun day for both students and teachers who attended. The students participated in various activities throughout the day; group brainstorming, learning about different multinational companies and design and branding techniques. They were also shown different methods of witty and successful advertising campaigns which companies have used in the past.
The students participated in many team activities throughout the day, where they were given the task of designing potential products to invent as part of their Enterprise project. One student in particular gave a presentation of a proposed product design to a room of over two hundred students. This was a fantastic achievement. He gave a fantastic presentation and showed no sign of nerves!
The Transition Year class must now invent, design and present a product. They must then present their proposal to Louth Meath Local Enterprise Office for approval. We look forward to seeing their ideas!

The TY class of Colaiste Clavin Longwood are after going on their first trip of the year to Carlingford Adventure Centre. Carlingford is located in Louth. This meant the 23 students had an early start at quarter past seven in the morning.
The highlight of the trip for many students was the kayaking. They kayaked out to a secret waterfall were they climbed through a tunnel to stand under and taste the most refreshing water every tasted. The students then kayaked over to a water trampoline where all the students ganged up on the instructors by pushing and shoving them of the trampoline. Mr O’Connell did not dare to step on the trampoline for fear of being ganged up against by the students!
These moments will stay in the students’ memory for a long time. One of the students gave an interview saying that it was by far the best school trip that they had every went on. To wrap this whole trip up the students took part in a crystal maze. This involved two team of students completing a number challenges in order to win points for their teams. This helped the students to build on their team working skills. Overall the students of Coláiste Clavin had a an amazing time at Carlingford Adventure Centre.
