Coláiste Clavin are North-Leinster Champions!!

January 11, 2023

On Tuesday Jan. 10th our Junior hurlers played in the North-Leinster final Vs. Dunshaughlin Community College in Dunganny.  Our captain Malachy Fisher won the toss and elected to play with the strong breeze in the first half, and from the first minute we took advantage of the breeze and got an early goal through full forward and team vice-captain Patrick Jordan. This early goal set the tone for the game and Coláiste Clavin dominated the game from start to finish, Patrick would go on to score an incredible 8 goals in the game! There were great performances throughout the team, from Kyle Dixon in goal, a full backline of Kevin Kane (2), Thomas Dorran (3) and Páraic Farrell (4) who were rock solid throughout, a half backline line of Adam Peacock (5), Conor Dixon (6) and Ronan Greene (7) who layed the platform for most of our attacks were excellent. Our two midfielders of Luke Brady (8) and Brian Stagg (9) worked tirelessly throughout the game, Luke getting a number of pivotal blocks and Brian driving forward constantly and unlucky to see a shot on goal come off the underneath of the crossbar early in the match, VAR may have been handy here! Our forwards were exceptional, the half forward line consisted of Ben Mc Loughlin (10), Malachy Fisher (11, Captain) and Shaun Hanlon Upton (12) won all of their individual duels and gave great service to the full forward line. Our full forward line of Killian McCarthy (13), Patrick Jordan (14) and Daniel Donnelly Fahy (15) scored prolifically and contributed to the majority of Coláiste Clavins’ final tally of 8 goals and 13 points. Commiserations to Dunshaughlin Community College, but this was Coláiste Clavins’ day and huge congratulations to all the players involved. When the final whistle sounded there were jubilant scenes from players, management, supporters and parents. The final scoreline was Colaiste Clavin 8-13 Dunshaughlin Community College 0-8. The players returned to a heroes welcome in school on Tuesday afternoon with celebrations that will live long in the memory of students and staff.
