Second Year History Students explored the very impressive EPIC Irish Emigration museum in Dublin. The museum charts the impact Ireland and Irish people have had on the world, with interactive screens around almost every corner. Students enjoyed learning about Irish bandits and made connections to their classroom activities through the Famine stories.

Aoife Dixon 1st Year was awarded a “Highly Commended Certificate” along with a framed Presentation of her entry to the Positive Mental Health Art Competition at National Level. The Presentation was in the Civic Offices in Dublin.  

Senior Art Students visited the National Gallery of Ireland and the Hugh Lane Gallery in preparation of the Art Exam

5th year Biology Students were brought to Dublin Zoo and the Phoenix Park to carry out an Ecosystem Study as part of their Ecology course. They spent the day investigating the living and non-living factors that affect Plants and Animals in our environment. They also had some time to enjoy some time in the Zoo

Ms McDonagh’s 5th year LCVP Class visited Lagan Cement. They had a tour of the facility and will now be typing up their Summary Report based on the trip for their LCVP Portfolios.

Ken O’Donnell 5th Year submitted an idea to the ESB as part of their “National Safety Challenge Competition”. His idea will be featured in next months edition of “Irish Building Magazine”. His idea has earned him a place as a finalist in the competition. Well done Ken.

First and Second Year Geography Students completed Geography Projects. Home Economics Students carried out a Fashion Project 1st prize : Evan Howell with a Beautiful Presentation on 1950’s Fashion to include Handmade pieces. 2nd prize: Katie Black, Ruth Buckley & Annie Finnegan with a Presentation on Make up. 3rd prize: Luke Crumpton & Dean Cunningham with a Presentation on 1980’s Fashion.

5th Years Students received a talk on Tuesday from AWARE called “Beat the Blues” on managing their mental health. This talk which was rescheduled after the snow from “Wellbeing” week, centred around providing students with practical strategies to cope with stress in their lives. 

Colaiste Clavin’s School Drama group are busy preparing for their staging of “Check Please” by Johnathan Rand a Comedy about the trials and tribulations of the dating world. The play will be performed in Colaiste Clavin on Thursday the 3rd May at 7pm. Tickets are on sale next week in the school, five euro for
